Footwear - Ventilation

Research has shown that exercising in poorly ventilated footwear can have negative implications on foot health. Adequate airflow and breathability are fundamentally important in the design of a good shoe as without it the environment in which the foot must perform can become hot and overly moist.
This kind of in shoe environment can impact the foot in two ways. Firstly, it provides the perfect breeding ground for bacteria that can quickly multiply and result in fungal infections and increased foot odour. Additionally, a moist in shoe environment can lead to increased friction on the skin resulting in blisters and chafing. ASICS design solution for this unhealthy environment incorporates a host of technical components and specialty materials that both encourage airflow and enhance breathability as a means to keeping the foot cooler, drier and healthier.
Ventilation Technologies
-
Gilled Mesh
A specialised mesh placed strategically on the upper allows for improved airflow and breath ability.
-
Magicventilation
Vented midsole and outsole minimizes weight and maximizes breath ability.
-
-
Water Resistance
Treatment on microscopic scale giving fabric water resistance or other performance characteristics.
-
Air Cycle Ventilation
A new system which improves and flows air circulation inside the shoe.
-
ComforDry Sockliner
Provides cushioning performance and anti-microbial properties for a cooler, drier, healthier environment.
-
Anti-Gravel Tongue
Gusseted construction prevents debris from entering the shoe.
